KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A Kansas City-based life insurance company is set to make a big move to one of the city’s most iconic sites, Crown Center.

Fidelity Security Life Insurance Company officials announced on Friday, Aug. 2, that it has reached a lease agreement to move their headquarters to the office tower at 2600 Grand Blvd. in Crown Center. Current headquarters are located about a mile away at 3130 Broadway Blvd.

“Thanks to the contribution of so many over the years, our company has grown and experienced a great deal of success,” said Brad Jones, FSL vice chairman. “While our current location has served us well for 55 years, it is time for a new home to gather, collaborate, and continue to serve our insureds and partners for our next chapter. We couldn’t be more thrilled, and we look to our next chapter with confidence and enthusiasm.”

Fidelity noted that it and its affiliate, Forrest T. Jones & Company, will occupy 3.5 floors of the 14-story office building. The company’s nearly 340 employees plan to move into the newly designed and renovated space in January 2026.

Officials indicated that Fidelity, one of the nation’s top life-health insurance companies, has recently expanded. It is currently licensed in 33 states and has its eye on a nationwide license in the coming years. Those developments have made this the perfect time to move.

“Our new home is a significant investment – a reflection of our commitment to our valued associates, our commitment to our insureds, and we chose very intentionally to stay in Kansas City, Missouri – a commitment to our community,” Jones continued. “This investment and these commitments personify FSL’s tagline: ‘Come Build With Us.’”

Fidelity said it is set to move to one of the most iconic areas of the city, anchored by Hallmark Cards and an array of retailers, restaurants and entertainment. Employees are set to enjoy a short walk to Union Station and the National World War I Museum while they enjoy views of downtown Kansas City. The tower is also set to become a stop on the streetcar expansion route.

“Operating as a mixed-use development gives Crown Center unique expertise in serving the needs of today’s commercial real estate market,” said Stacey Paine, president of Crown Center Redevelopment Corporation. “We have established restaurants and shopping, first-class hotel and conference facilities, a private health club for office employees, and year-round entertainment options. Our walkable complex features green space, fountains, gathering spaces, and attractive amenities that give people additional reasons to come to the office.”

Crown Center noted that the new lease builds on its reputation as a desirable, Class A office location near downtown.

“It’s significant when a headquarters of this size decides to relocate to our complex and we are, of course, incredibly pleased that FSL has decided that they and their employees will call Crown Center home,” Paine added. “FSL and Crown Center have been collaborating for some time on this move, and we are proud that two long-standing family-owned Kansas City companies have an opportunity to work together.”

Crown Center is also set to be featured in Hallmark’s new ‘Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story’ which is set to premiere as part of the 2024 Countdown to Christmas the week before Thanksgiving.
