Israel strikes Iran: Delhi airport operations normal, says DIAL; some flights affected

NEW DELHI: Delhi airport continues to operate normally, but several flights have been affected due to changing airspace conditions over Iran, Iraq and nearby regions, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said in an advisory issued on Friday. The disruption follows Israel’s military strike on Iran late Thursday, with explosions reported across Tehran. Iran’s state media confirmed the blasts, while Israel’s defence minister called it a “preemptive strike” amid escalating tensions between the two nations.“Delhi Airport operations are running smoothly. However, due to evolving airspace conditions over Iran, Iraq and neighbouring regions, some flight schedules have been impacted,” DIAL said in a post on X.The advisory comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East following Israel’s military strike on Iran.DIAL has urged passengers to stay updated. “Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding their flights,” DIAL added. It further cautioned travelers against misinformation saying, “we strongly urge all passengers to rely only on official sources for accurate and up-to-date information.”Passengers scheduled to travel internationally are advised to check flight timings in advance and stay in touch with their airlines.Earlier, the Indian Embassy in Iran also released a cautionary notice for Indian citizens and people of Indian descent living in Iran considering the present circumstances.“In view of the current situation in Iran, all Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin in Iran are requested to remain vigilant, avoid all unnecessary movements, follow the Embassy’s Social Media accounts & observe safety protocols as advised by local authorities,” the Embassy said on X.This notice was issued following Israel’s “preemptive” military action against Iran, as confirmed by Israeli defence minister Israel Katz. He also announced a nationwide emergency following the strike.
